BetBlocker Adds Turkish Language Option as Gambling Support Demand Rises

BetBlocker Adds Turkish Language OptionBetBlocker has introduced a Turkish language option to its gambling blocking software, expanding access to users in Türkiye and Turkish speaking communities abroad. The update went live on February 25, 2026 and marks the second language expansion for the charity this year.

The organisation says the addition is designed to make the service more accessible at a time when clarity and speed can be critical for users seeking to restrict their gambling activity. With Turkish now available, BetBlocker estimates it can reach roughly 90 million Turkish speakers worldwide.

The rollout follows a year of significant usage growth. According to figures shared in the announcement, more than 300,000 users activated blocks in 2025, underscoring increased demand for digital restriction tools.

Focus on Accessibility and Localisation

BetBlocker’s latest expansion reflects a broader emphasis on localisation in harm prevention services. The charity has highlighted that users often attempt to install blocking software during moments of urgency. In such cases, navigating instructions in a second language can become an obstacle.

By offering a full Turkish interface, BetBlocker aims to reduce friction during installation and setup, helping users act quickly without facing language barriers. The organisation has also pointed to the importance of supporting Turkish speaking diaspora communities across Europe, the Middle East and North America.

Volunteer Contribution to the Turkish Version

The Turkish translation was supported by volunteer clinical psychologist and researcher Fatmatüz Zehra Pehlivan. Her contribution was acknowledged as part of the launch, reflecting the importance of accurate and sensitive language in tools designed to address addictive behaviours.

In services related to gambling harm, terminology and tone carry particular weight. Clear and culturally appropriate language can influence whether users complete installation and maintain restrictions over time.

Rising Applications for Gambling Support in Türkiye

The timing of the update is notable given the upward trend in gambling related support applications in Türkiye. Data released by the Green Crescent’s counselling centres shows steady growth over recent years.

Applications related to gambling were recorded at 3,006 in 2022, rising to 3,552 in 2023, 4,798 in 2024 and 5,748 in 2025. The majority of applicants fall within the 20 to 40 age range, highlighting the impact on working age adults.

The same data indicates that early exposure to gambling is not uncommon, reinforcing the relevance of digital tools that allow individuals to restrict access to betting platforms across devices.

How the Software Works

BetBlocker operates as a free gambling restriction tool and does not require users to create an account. The service can be installed in a matter of minutes and supports use across multiple devices.

Live figures published by the organisation show that more than 329,000 gambling sites and over 1,500 gambling apps are currently included in its blocking database. The platform also reports more than 51,000 active devices using the software.

Users can select restriction periods ranging from one day to five years. In addition to fixed terms, the system allows scheduled blocks, enabling protection to activate during specific times. This flexibility is intended to support individuals who experience higher risk at particular intervals.

Wider Context

The introduction of Turkish language support comes amid increased scrutiny of betting activities in Türkiye, including ongoing investigations into illegal betting and match related offences. While BetBlocker is not directly linked to regulatory developments, the broader climate highlights the growing attention on gambling related risks.

With its latest language expansion, BetBlocker strengthens its international reach while aligning with rising demand for accessible harm reduction tools. The Turkish version is expected to improve usability for a significant user base and contribute to the platform’s continued growth.
